REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2007

 

 

The regular meeting of the Handy Township Board of Trustees was called to order in the Handy Township Board Room by Supervisor Denby at 7:30 P.M.  A moment of silence was observed in memory of 9-11. Members present: Eisele, Tesch, Redinger and Vaupel. Also present: Zoning Administrator-Anderson and Township Attorney-Kehoe.

 

Approval of Agenda

MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT REDINGER TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED.   MOTION CARRIED.

 

Brief Public Comments

None

 

Approval of Minutes

MOTION EISELE SUPPORT REDINGER TO APPROVE THE MINUTES

OF AUGUST 14, 2007 WITH SPELLING CORRECTION OF “AGREEMENT” ON PAGE 2.   MOTION CARRIED.

 

MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SEWER COMMITTEE MEETING OF 8-13-2007 AS PRESENTED.  MOTION CARRIED.

 

Approval of Bills

Supervisor Denby remarked that she appreciated the various budget reports included with the board packets and asked if revenue reports could also be included in the future.

MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO PAY THE BILLS OF 9-11-2007 IN THE AMOUNT OF $73,311.72 FROM THE APPROPRIATE ACCOUNTS.  MOTION CARRIED.

 

Pending Business

A)    Engineer’s Report

Engineer was not present at the meeting. Board discussed some concerns with the water plant on Van Buren Road. Local children had discovered an extra key that was outside the building and unlocked the doors and broke the key off in one of the locks. The children are also using the area for skateboard ramps. MMJ Waters had found the doors unlocked, they have to file a report with the DEQ. Discussion followed concerning re-keying the locks, getting bids for fencing and filing a police report. Also, there is a problem with the set of double doors; they are very hard to close. Clerk Eisele will get bids for the fence and Trustee Redinger will look at the door.

B)    Zoning Administrator’s Report

Permits still slow, Utilities have been busy. Discussion concerning water hole by pump station on Grand River, Zoning Administrator Anderson will take some pictures to make sure that final sign off is not done until some of these issues are resolved.

 

C)    Assessor’s Report

Report presented and reviewed.

 

D)    Attorney’s Report

No report

 

E)     Community Education and Recreation Report

Brief discussion.

 

F)     Roads

No report.

 

G)    Front Door Remodel

Nothing at this time to report, the cabinets still need some work done on them. Project needs to be renamed Building Remodel.

 

New Business

A)    Petition Received from N. Gregory Road Residents

Brief discussion concerning condition of roads, whether road condition affected by bridge closure. Trustee Redinger expressed concerns about condition of Stow Road south of Grand River. Supervisor Denby will check with road commission concerning amounts of chloride used and the condition of Stow Road.

 

B)    Supervisor’s Report

No report

 

C)    Treasurer’s Report

Taxes are due Friday. Clerk Eisele asked if Treasurer would be available to collect taxes on Friday, she said that she would not, but any taxes in the drop box will be credited on Monday and will be considered to be on time.

Extended Public Comments

Zoning Administrator Anderson reported that the roof may have a leak, are trying to track it down.  Treasurer Tesch noted there are some weeds around the building that need to be taken care of.
