HANDY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
February 12, 2008
           

 

The regular Handy Township board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Denby at 7:30 p.m. in the Handy Township board room.  Trustees Present: Vaupel, Eisele, Redinger  and Tesch.  Absent: None.  Also Present: Asst. Zoning Administrator Hummel, Attorney Kehoe, Ted Spalding and Cathi Rosso.

Approval of Agenda:
Add under New Business item E) Weaver Unemployment Bill
.MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT REDINGER TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS AMENDED.  MOTION CARRIED.

Brief Public Comments:           
Resident Cathi Rosso inquired about the current dog ordinance and if the Board was looking at making any changes. Offered her time in helping regulate dogs, Board suggested she contact animal control.

THE FEBRUARY 23, 2008 SPECIAL BOARD MEETING AS PRESENTED.

Approval of Bills:
Transfer is needed of $187.00.
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO AUTHORIZE THE TRANSFER
OF $187.00 FROM THE CONTINGENCY FUND #101-890-999 TO FUND
# 101-202-727 ASSESSOR – OFFICE SUPPLIES AND POSTAGE.
 MOTION CARRIED.

MOTION EISELE SUPPORT REDINGER TO PAY THE BILLS OF
FEBRUARY 12, 2008 IN THE AMOUNT OF $129,529.27 FROM
THE APPROPRIATE ACCOUNTS.  MOTION CARRIED.

Pay request E-22 presented for authorization
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT REDINGER TO AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF PAY REQUEST E-22 TO ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,194.87 AND TO AUTHORIZE THE SUPERVISOR’ SIGNATURE.  MOTION CARRIED.

            Pay request E-34 presented for authorization
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT REDINGER TO AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF PAY REQUEST E-34 TO ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,217.00 AND TO AUTHORIZE THE SUPERVISOR’S SIGNATURE.  ABSTAIN – VAUPEL.  MOTION CARRIED.

MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT EISELE TO ACCEPT WRITTEN APPEALS FROM HANDY TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS FOR THE BOARD OF REVIEW.  MOTION CARRIED.
           

    1. Asset level for poverty exemptions

MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT EISELE TO ESTABLISH THE ASSET LEVEL FOR POVERTY EXEMPTION AT 5 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF INCOME
AND TO EXCLUDE THE HOMESTEAD AND ONE AUTOMOBILE. 
MOTION CARRIED.

  1. COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RECREATION REPORT

Discussion concerning annual meeting, good information and next year’s meeting was set.
MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT EISELE TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF THE RECREATION BILL.  MOTION CARRIED.

Brief discussion concerning changes. Will review at the next regular
board meeting.

    1. Coffey Cemetery

A good faith offer was made by Mr. Anderson’s insurance company of $400.00 for the Board to consider accepting as payment towards wind damage at Coffey Cemetery.
MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT REDINGER TO ACCEPT $400.00 AS PAYMENT OF DAMAGES TO COFFEY CEMETERY.  MOTION CARRIED.

Trustee Vaupel requests permission to attend seminar on state policies.
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT TESCH TO AUTHORIZE ANY BOARD MEMBER TO ATTEND SEMINAR ON DECLINING MONEY ISSUES FROM STATE.  MOTION CARRIED.
