TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2007
The regular meeting of the Handy Township Board of Trustees was called to order in the Handy Township Boardroom by Supervisor Denby at 7:30 P.M. Member present: Eisele, Tesch, Vaupel and Redinger. Also present: Zoning Administrator – Anderson, Township Attorney – Kehoe and Engineering Technologies - Ken Cousino.
Approval of Agenda
MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT REDINGER TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED.

MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED.
Approval of Bills
MOTION VAUPEL SUPPORT EISELE TO APPROVE THE BILLS OF OCTOBER 9, 2007 IN THE AMOUNT OF $97,703.40 TO BE PAID FROM THE APPROPRIATE ACCOUNTS. MOTION CARRIED.
Pending Business
Ken Cousino – Engineering Technologies gave report on progress on sewers on West Grand River, work has been started past Nicholson Road, contractor expects to be finished in November. Discussion concerning grading around pump station.
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF PAY REQUEST E-18 TO ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES IN THE AMOUNT
OF $7803.89 AND TO AUTHORIZE THE SUPERVISOR’S SIGNATURE.
MOTION CARRIED.
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT REDINGER TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF PAY REQUEST E- 30 TO ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES IN THE AMOUNT
OF $5198.99 AND TO AUTHORIZE THE SUPERVISOR’S SIGNATURE.
MOTION CARRIED.
Discussion concerning billing rates from the Village and maximum usages. Special Board meeting needed to address sewer issues and road projects.

Various projects are underway, discussion concerning Cedar Road and new projects. Will discuss further at special meeting.
Discussion concerning meeting with architect, roof overhangs need to be removed along with the remaining siding so that the exterior can be assessed for work needed. Also discussion of work in Treasurer’s office needed to secure office; door, doorways blocked and shutter for counter.
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO HIRE REDINGER BUILDERS TO REMOVE EXTERIOR CANOPIES AT REAR OF BUILDING LOCATED AT 137 NORTH GRAND AVENUE FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3500.00 PLUS THE COST OF PERMITS. ROLL CALL VOTE. VAUPEL – AYE,
TESCH – AYE, DENBY L- AYE, EISELE – AYE, REDINGER – ABSTAIN. AYES – 4, NAYS – 0, ABSTAIN – 1, ABSENT – 0. MOTION CARRIED.
New Business
MOTION EISELE SUPPORT VAUPEL TO APPROVE THE AMENDMENTS TO THE HANDY TOWNSHIP MASTER PLAN AS ADOPTED BY THE HANDY TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION. MOTION CARRIED.
A RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED BY EISELE AND SUPPORTED BY TESCH TO ESTABLISH THE MILLAGE RATE OF 1.8696 FOR HANDY TOWNSHIP FOR THE 2007-08 YEAR. ROLL CALL VOTE. TESCH – AYE, DENBY – AYE, VAUPEL – AYE, REDINGER – AYE, EISELE – AYE. AYES – 5, NAY – 0, ABSTAIN – 0, ABSENT – 0 . RESOLUTION DECLARED ADOPTED.

MOTION EISELE SUPPORT REDINGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FOWLERVILLE SENIOR CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF $5000.00 FOR THE 2007-08 YEAR AND TO AUTHORIZE THE CLERK’S AND SUPERVISOR’S SIGNATURES. MOTION CARRIED.
